Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with non-stick baking spray
and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla extract.
In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture and mix just until combined. Do not overmix.
Transfer to the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips, if desired. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes
or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. (Careful not to insert near a chocolate chip.)
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing and serving.
