Wholesum Gear keeps track of the equipment your trips use: canoes, tents, PFDs, stoves, sporks, fuel and everything else. It records what you own, which trip has it, what came back damaged and what you need to buy.
It works alongside Wholesum's meal planning. A trip can be linked to its meal plan, and the kitchen gear your recipes need can go straight onto the trip's packing list.
What Gear does
- Gear List: every kind of gear you own. Things you track one by one, like canoes, have a tag and their own history. Things you just count, like sporks, have a number on the shelf.
- Trips: plan a trip, build its packing list and hold the gear for those dates, so two trips can't book the same canoe. Check the gear out when the trip leaves and back in when it returns.
- Inventory: how many of each counted item are on the shelf, packed in kits, out on trips or in repair, with a history of every change.
- Maintenance: repair tickets for damaged gear, and inspections that come due by date or by use.
- QR labels: stick a label on a canoe and your crew can check it out or in by scanning it with a phone.
Opening Gear
If your account includes Gear, you'll find it in your account menu. Click your picture at the top right of any Wholesum page, then click Gear.

The account menu with Gear in it
Gear has its own menu down the left side of the screen. You can also search your whole gear list from the box at the top, by name, tag or serial number.

The Gear overview
To go back to recipes and meal plans, click Switch to Meals at the bottom of the menu. Click your name below it for your account, settings and Log out.

Switch to Meals, at the bottom of the Gear menu
Gear-only accounts. Some outfitters use Gear without meal planning. Their account opens straight into Gear, and the Switch to Meals button isn't there.
Getting Gear on your account
Gear is a flat rate per organization. It isn't added from the Subscription page: contact us and we'll turn it on for your account.
