Recipe Instructions

Use 12" DO
Prep specified bag of coals.
Preheat oven on gas burner.
While the oven is preheating, mix together the ingredients for the cake according to the instructions on the box and set aside. Melt butter in the bottom of your preheated DO and add brown sugar. Stir until moistened and remove from heat. Evenly place pineapple rings over the brown sugar on the bottom of the DO and brown for a minute. Then, place a maraschino cherry in the middle of each of the pineapple rings.
Carefully pour cake mix over the top of the pineapple and cherries. Cover with lid and set on 1/3 of the coals. Place 2/3 of the coals evenly over the lid. Keep covered and turn every 15 minutes. When you smell cake, approximately 35-40 minutes later, it’s ready to check. The cake is done when a knife poked into the center comes out clean.
When you’re ready to serve, cut the cake into slices and add a squirt of whipped cream.
