Recipe Instructions

Rehydrate shepherd's pie mix per package. Pour into bottom of greased dutch oven. Make mashed potatoes: boil 12 cups water, stir into potato flakes with butter, salt, and pepper until creamy. Spread over filling. Top with grated or sliced cheese. Bake covered with coals top and bottom 25–30 minutes until heated through and topping is lightly browned. Note: Use Cheddar Cheese Powder as the substitute for trips longer than 4 days or in hot weather.
