Recipe Instructions

Combine flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, and milk powder in a large bowl.

Add cold water a little at a time, stirring until a soft, workable dough forms.

Roll the dough into small balls or flatten and cut into rings.

Heat about ¾ inch of oil in a Dutch oven or heavy pot. Fry doughnuts for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

Transfer to a cloth or paper towels to drain.

While still warm, toss with icing sugar and cinnamon. Serve immediately.

Freshly fried bannock doughnuts are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and a campfire favorite.
