Recommended method: The night before, combine the steel-cut oats and water in a large pot. Cover and let soak overnight. This will reduce the morning cooking time.
In the morning, bring the soaked oats to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring frequently, until tender and creamy.
Day-of method: Bring the water and milk powder to a boil in a large pot. Stir in the steel-cut oats, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 1 hour, stirring frequently, until tender and creamy.
With either method, stir in the dehydrated fruit, cinnamon, and brown sugar during the final 15 minutes of cooking.
Top with seeds and serve hot.
